The end of breast feeding

It has been a week to the day since I last breastfed K and to be completely honest, it is a bittersweet feeling!
I thought this day would never come.
I breastfed for a year and 3months. My boobs are done for. The damage is done now so, I guess it is what it is.

Through breastfeeding K, I saw how women who did choose to breastfeed their babies, were frowned upon as though it wasn't a normal thing to do.
The way people react to a woman breastfeeding her child is out of order, however being a 'strong woman that I am (LOL) I didn't care.

As a mother, your child needs come first. Have I breastfed in public? YES. would I do ever do it again? YES. I have only done it in the park and on a plane.
K only started to take the bottle at around 11 months, if I remember correctly. No matter what I tried [ formula, breast milk, changing the bottle, cold milk, warm milk] he just would not accept the bottle. On a good day, he would drink 4oz of pumped milk, but it was like, as soon as he realised what he was doing he would stop. strange.

It was a gradual process. We whittled down to 3 feeds a day- and through the night when he struggled to sleep, to two feeds a day, to only when he woke up. Now nothing. I give him a bottle in the morning, after his nap and at night.
So far he is coping well with this, and I'm happy to have my boobs back, Although I do miss it slightly.
